The ADK team wanted to give candidates an opportunity to present themselves and market their abilities directly to clients. Using video interviews would also allow candidates to differentiate themselves from other candidates through direct comparison of the standardized video interviews.
We really loved the idea of allowing candidates to complete a short video interview on their own schedule where their personality can really come through. It was getting increasingly difficult to schedule short interviews that required both our participation and the candidates'. We also wanted a better way to showcase our candidates and their personalities to our clients.
This was our first time using one-way video interviews. However, we had used another video interviewing provider previously, but only in a live format. Just never the open-ended type of video interview.
We wanted to give candidates a way to present themselves in a positive light for our clients and we also wanted to give our clients an indication of the candidates' personalities. The fact that the candidates could do this on their own schedule was a huge plus for us, and our candidates!

It has streamlined our process to a great degree and automated several grueling tasks. We predominantly use one-way video interviews early on in our screening process. We only conduct live interviews for our top finalists for positions.
It was labor intensive! As a recruiting firm, we want to present the best candidate pool to our clients. That required us to have some sort of phone or video interview with candidates we recommended move forward in the search process. We would have to reach out to candidates with several time slots, then follow up, take care of rescheduling when something came up on their side or ours, conduct the interview, then make a follow up report. Going through this whole process made scheduling difficult not only for our candidates but for our team as well. And a written summary of a phone interview is not nearly as meaningful to our clients as seeing the candidate on a short video where their personality can really come through.
It wasn't difficult. Once we explained that candidates would be able to complete the one-way interviews on their own schedule and we could simply provide a link to our client, our team members were sold.
