Today their branch network stretches along the Wasatch Front from Davis County to Utah County with 18 locations to serve the needs of 90,000 plus members. Q:

What inspired you to look into video interviewing?

A:

We loved the idea of getting candidates interviewed quicker and more conveniently. We looked into the providers that were out there and found Spark Hire.

Q:

What criteria did you have in mind for a video interviewing solution?

A:

We wanted the platform to be easy and convenient both us and our candidates. In addition, price was definitely a factor. The other provider we looked at, HireVue, was very expensive so Spark Hire seemed like a great fit.

Describe your selection process and what you found most attractive about Spark Hire when signing up.

A:

After seeing what Spark Hire and HireVue had to offer, we met as a team and decided what we wanted from video interviewing. We liked both products and we loved how affordable Spark Hire was. There was minimal risk in getting started with Spark Hire and the upside was huge.

What was getting started with Spark Hire like?

A:

Everything was smooth as butter! I always hate learning new systems and Spark Hire’s website is super user-friendly and wasn’t stressful at all!

Q:

What was your team’s hiring process prior to using Spark Hire?

A:

Before using Spark Hire, we would look through applications and decide who we want to call in for an in person interview. Then call them and set up a time that worked for both of us. As we still have face to face interviews, we don’t waste time anymore on candidates we don’t want. Now, we basically only call candidates we know we want to hire.

How does video interviewing fit into your hiring process?

A:

Spark Hire interviews are the first interview our candidates have. They must complete the video interview to move forward.

Q:

How do you get your team members to buy in to video interviewing?

A:

We tell them how cool it is! I feel like it is a “weird” concept to get used to. Even when I first heard about video interviewing, I was a little skeptical. Eventually, I bought into it. I really feel like educating people on why you use certain products is key. The team now sees how much time video interviewing saves us, and that has created buy-in. We can send candidates’ video interviews to however many hiring managers we want, just by a click of a button. That simple process replaces individual interviews by hiring managers that would normally take months.

Q:

What is the biggest impact that video interviewing has on your hiring process?

A:

It saves us so much time. There is little time wasted on in-person interviews now, because we basically know who we are interviewing before they come in. Also, before Spark Hire, I was the sole decision maker on if I should hire a candidate or not. I was hiring for 18 different branches! Now, I send the interview to all 18 managers and they tell me who to bring in for an in person interview. Brilliant!

What was your aha moment -- the moment you knew you loved Spark Hire?

A:

The first interview I received! For real, I knew then how much time we would save. Also, the branch managers and I collaborate on who to hire which makes for much more confident decisions.

Q:

Why should other credit unions look into video interviewing?

A:

Who doesn’t need more time? Also, I feel like we have an amazing system. We do all the background work and all the manager has to do for their part is watch video on their own time and decide if they like the candidate or not.

What is your favorite aspect of video interviewing?

A:

Well, the interview itself is my favorite aspect. But I equally appreciate how user-friendly the website is.

What are some things you love about Spark Hire?

A:

I feel like a broken record, but I love how user friendly the website is. I love that the candidates can interview on their own time. I love that I can watch the interview on my own time and I also love that I can forward that interview on to as many hiring managers as I want.
