Education Personnel Ltd is a New Zealand Ministry of Education preferred recruitment company delivering services for schools, early childhood centres and other institutions both in New Zealand and internationally. Their mission is to provide excellence in education by providing top quality recruitment and human resource services, including day-to-day relief, long term and permanent recruitment as well as specialist personnel services. Education Personnel has a long history of working with teachers and clients from all over the world, including the UK, Australia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore and China.
Education Personnel Ltd wanted to offer their clients a pool of overseas candidates with online profiles, providing a more tangible and personal look at candidates than a resume. They also wanted to pre-screen their candidates to learn more about them and to make their recruiting process more efficient, focusing their efforts on the best possible candidates.
Spark Hire has offered us a way to 'add value' to a candidate's application when schools couldn't meet them face-to-face. These videos enabled schools to get a feel of each candidate, rather than merely text on a page of a written application. We wanted something that enabled us to get those offshore teachers 'in front' of New Zealand school principals to showcase their personality and teaching experience.
We wanted to be able to tailor it to use in different contexts. We had to be able to download the video interviews so we could use them in various ways. Also, the ability for our offshore candidates to complete this video in their time zone was key. We needed candidates to have the ability to 'redo' the video if they're not happy with it before submitting.
We looked at 3 different providers. For us, responsiveness was a key indicator, as well as being versatile, and price competitive. Between them, Spark Hire was more responsive, customizable, and was better priced.
We used Skype, where we did not have the functionality of downloading interviews and passing them onto schools.
We routinely ask the majority of our candidates to answer 5 questions about themselves and their teaching. As well as being able to forward the completed videos to schools for roles, we are able to use the videos as a screening tool to assist with shortlisting and as a differentiation tool. We send out regular marketing bulletins to our clients with profiles of our top candidates, and we include the Spark Hire videos in these profiles.
For our team, the benefits were obvious, and created immediate buy-in from the whole team.
