The Reed Exhibitions team was frustrated with their preliminary interviews. They took too much time, and did not do enough to identify critical components of cultural fit.
We looked to video interviewing because we felt like it would help us get through candidates faster and more efficiently for the jobs in a particular group that really require a cultural fit within the company.

We actually didn’t consider any other video interviewing services when selecting Spark Hire. An acquaintance had used it for an interview that they had, and so we looked into it from there.
It was very easy to set up and navigate through the system. We were using it with candidates very quickly after setup.
We have saved time by seeing video interviews before bringing people in. If we had strictly gone off resumes to determine who to bring in for an interview, we would have spent a lot more time on the process. The time saved by watching these initial interviews is what has been most impactful.
After a resume screen, we would have a phone interview. Those we moved forward with would have an in-person round and then we would hire the best candidates.
It is the first step after resume screening. If we like the resume, we deploy the video as the next step in the process. After that they come in for the in-person round.
It wasn’t hard – they immediately bought in! They like to see the videos and it’s easy to circulate them around to different decision-makers. The question sets can be edited for different jobs, and it’s nice to get a feel for a candidate before bringing them in for a more extensive interview.
Besides the time that we save by having people participate in a video interview, we have also gotten a lot of feedback from candidates saying that they have enjoyed it!
We loved it after our first round of interviews – it was clear from there how beneficial the system would be to us.
If you have a large volume of candidates coming in and if cultural fit is extremely important, video interviewing really cuts down on the time that it takes to find the right person!
