Threshold 360 provides forward-thinking travel brands with the world’s largest library of 360 degree interactive videos. Their team helps destination marketing organizations, hotels, and directories increase website engagement, double the likelihood an online visitor physically visits a location, and increase sales conversions.
At first, Threshold 360 wanted a way to differentiate independent contractors interested in their projects. Then the team decided to bring the contractor position in-house and the most important characteristic of applicants became their tenacity. It was difficult to glean this trait from a resume screen, so they turned to video interviews.
Dating back a year and a half ago, we were building a new process from square one. Previously Threshold 360 worked with independent contractors but wanted to shift to hiring full-time employees rebranded as Creators. New Creators were needed quickly and across the country. Because our Creators are 360 field photographers, they must have the right personality to work independently, but also must possess the right skills like quick thinking and grit. Travelling Creators can be on the road for 12 months on their own, so it is important that we are sure their personality is a 100% fit.
Totally new to Threshold 360 and me. I know we looked into a few different options, but Spark Hire seemed to fit our system well as a super simple solution for what we needed. The other options were astronomically higher in price.
I didn't know about anything about Spark Hire before signing on. In fact, I was not even familiar with the concept of one-way video interviewing. Another company we knew referred us to Spark Hire.
We wanted a simple solution at a fair price. We wanted an interviewing method that would show a more complete picture of our candidates. We wanted to let them show their personality and grit which are the keys to our company culture. Our current agreement with Spark Hire has proven to be a tremendous value.
Simple, easy setup. Since then, I have only really adjusted the questions a few times and used tags to organize interviews. Spark Hire was very close to turnkey upon sign up.
We are a startup so, like most startups, our process was very informal. We used to work with independent contractors, but needed a way to connect with and hire full-time employees, Creators.
Candidates reach our careers page through a listing, they click to enter the video process from our page, then submit a video interview to our team. Because our positions do not require extensive experience, we actually review completed interviews as part of our first step.
Our team trusts each other, if something is working for another team member like Spark Hire did for me, we are all on board.
Helping assess candidates' personalities and fit within a couple of minutes, sometimes faster.
The fact that people would actually follow through and complete a video interview. The concept was so foreign to me at the time that it surprised me.
For example, a lot of our candidates used to come through Craigslist. Within 48 hours of posting and providing an avenue to our careers page and ultimately the video interview, a couple hundred people would complete the video interview.
Simple. Easy. Pain-free. I also love the fact that all necessary support inquiries requiring my attention are sent directly to me. In a few clicks, I can extend a candidates interview without calling or emailing support.
